Game Rules & Scoring Matrix

Tile Representation: Blue Cup = +x; Red Cup = −x; White Chip = +1; Red Chip = −1.

Scoring Mechanics:

Isolate x on the model before checking your answer. Skipping saves your model and log, earns no solved credit, and returns after the new questions. A match ends when all ten questions are solved. Timeout and passing have no penalty. First-try streaks are motivational markers; they do not add extra score.

This virtual manipulative activity targets whole-number linear equations. It does not cover rational coefficients, no-solution equations, or infinitely many solutions. Class standings combine saved matches by browser account; use them as classroom feedback.

Teacher setup & release checklist
  1. Enable Anonymous and Email/Password providers in your Firebase project's Authentication settings.
  2. Create the teacher's Email/Password account. In Realtime Database, use the console to set teachers/TEACHER_UID to boolean true. Teacher passwords are never embedded in this page.
  3. Sign in as the teacher here. Open Advanced Admin Configuration, copy the included database rules, publish them in Firebase, then test with two separate student browser profiles.
  4. Serve this file over HTTPS and add its domain to Firebase Authentication's authorized domains. Practice also works when the online SDK cannot load.
  5. This release uses version-3 matches under classes/CLASS/matches/CODE. Previous matches are preserved but cannot be played by this release. Create new codes.
  6. Before classroom release, verify create/join, both students' clocks, freeze/resume, reconnect, skip/return, ten-question completion, and teacher controls on the actual Chromebook and Promethean hardware.

Only approved teachers may list a whole class or freeze it. Authenticated students may read a match if they know its code. Scores and algebra are calculated in this single-page client; this is not a server-enforced competitive scoring system. For formal assessment or an inter-class tournament, validate moves and scores in a backend first. Use nicknames and keep the teacher console account private.
